Meet the Team

Dr Steve is always game for a friendly chat about your pet (or just life in general!). Despite growing up on a cattle property, he has devoted his professional career to the welfare of companion pets. As well as working as a small animal veterinarian prior to purchasing Mermaid Waters Veterinary Surgery in January 2008, he has worked as an assistant veterinary surgeon to a veterinary surgical specialist and as an emergency veterinarian. Stephen is a member of both the Australian Veterinary Association and the Australian Small Animal Veterinary Association. At home Stephen has a cattle dog named Rutherford, a tonkinese cat named Luna and eight chickens.
Dr Amanda grew up on the Gold Coast. She started in the veterinary industry in 2004 as a school based trainee and graduated Veterinary Science at the University of Queensland in 2012. Amanda’s strength is medicine and she has a thorough approach to medical cases and is very capable of getting to the bottom of the medical condition that may affect your best friend. At home she has a Rhodesian Ridgeback named Solomon.
Dr Christine is very excited to be working at Mermaid Waters after graduating with honours from the University of Queensland in 2015. Don’t underestimate Christine as just a “new graduate”. Since graduating veterinary science she has developed both her medical and surgical skills to a very impressive level. At home she shares her life with a very relaxed dog, Meesha, and has a passion for helping people and their animals
Jess grew up on the Gold Coast and joined Mermaid Waters Veterinary Surgery in 2014 in the role of practice manager. She is the ultimate all rounder and the most practical nurse we have even met! Ashleigh has a Certificate IV in Veterinary nursing and a Certificate IV in Companion Animals (animal behaviour and training) and conducts puppy preschool & dog training at Mermaid Waters Veterinary Surgery. She is very passionate about behaviour training and she is available for behavioural consultations with your less than well behaved pet! At home Ash has 2 dogs, Angie & Rogue, & a bird called Peaches
