Dr Steve and Dr Amy have owned Mermaid Vet for fourteen years. They both have a deep love for animals and are very grateful to being able to devote their working life to improving the lives of pets and their owners. At home Dr Steve and Dr Amy have a rambunctious cattle dog named Rutherford, an aloof tonkinese cat named Luna and seven chickens
Dr Christine has been working with us at Mermaid Waters since graduating with honours from the University of Queensland in 2015. Since graduating veterinary science she has developed both her medical and surgical skills to a very impressive level. At home she shares her life with a very relaxed dog, Meesha, and has a passion for helping people and their animals
Dr Dimity joined our team in 2019. Dr Dimity graduated from the University of Queensland in 2003. Although she grew up on the Gold Coast, after graduation she spent the 15 years working in a veterinary clinic in Jimboomba. Now very happy to return to the Gold Coast, Dr Dimity comes to us with a wealth of knowledge in small animal medicine and surgery and she looks forward to meeting you and your pets.
Dimity is currently on maternity leave and will return in 2022.
Dr Emily has joined our clinic in March 2018 all the way from Broome, W.A! She graduated from Perth’s Murdoch University in 2014 and spent the next few years exploring the Kimberley and treating a menagerie of animals. Dr Emily was a Vet Nurse before becoming a veterinarian and has more than twelve years experience in veterinary clinics! She enjoys all aspects of being a veterinarian with a special interests in ultrasound and internal medicine. Outside of work, Dr Emily is enjoying her new adventure, exploring the Gold Coast’s beautiful beaches and hinterland.
Dr Amanda initially started working at Mermaid Vet back in 2014. She worked with the team for four years before taking an eighteen month hiatus. She is a Gold Coast local with over 15 years in the Veterinary Industry, starting out as Veterinary Nurse and graduating as Veterinarian with honours in 2012. Dr Amanda is a very thorough clinician who excels in internal medicine. She loves her role in general practice with her main goal being to strengthen the human-animal bond between owner and pet, and to ensure the best care for her clients’ furry family members. We are sure many clients will be thrilled to be able to see Dr Amanda again
Dr. Gillian joins our team after 10 years as a small animal veterinarian, having graduated from Sydney University in 2010. After graduation she got lost in the Bermuda triangle for a while working as a vet on the sunny isle. Following her return down under she has been working north of Brisbane and is now looking forward to exploring the Gold Coast’s beaches and bush. Dr. Gill has a special interest in feline internal medicine as well as physiotherapy. Having previously worked as a scuba diver she is both a Mermaid and a Vet!
Dr Brydee began her journey working at Mermaid Vet in 2017 while studying for a Bachelor in Veterinary Medicine at University of Queensland. She graduated in 2018 and completed an intership with Veterinary Specialist Services before beginning work back with us as a fully qualified Veterinarian.
Jess grew up on the Gold Coast and joined Mermaid Waters Veterinary Surgery in 2014 in the role of practice manager. She is the ultimate all rounder and the most practical nurse we have ever met! As well as having a Certificate IV in Veterinary nursing, she has a wealth of knowledge having fourteen years experience in the veterinary field. At home she has two dogs, Claudia & Charlee, a cat called Gary, Chickens and 2 Goats.
Ashleigh grew up on the Gold Coast and joined Mermaid Waters Veterinary Surgery at the beginning of 2013. Ashleigh has been in the veterinary field since 2010. Ashleigh has a Certificate IV in Veterinary nursing and a Certificate IV in Companion Animals (animal behaviour and training) and conducts puppy preschool & dog training at Mermaid Waters Veterinary Surgery. She is very passionate about behaviour training and she is available for behavioural consultations with your less than well behaved pet! At home Ash has a Jack Russell named Rogue, & a bird called Peaches.
Ashleigh is currently on maternity leave and will return at the end of 2021.
Kim moved from the UK in 2016 with her partner and 2 girls to join the team here at Mermaid Waters Veterinary Surgery. She is a qualified veterinary nurse and brings 20 years of experience with her which includes management of a pet hospital, and surgical/medical nursing duties. She has a very calm disposition and a lovely easy going nature. Her interests include surgical nursing, weight clinics and dietary management
Felicity joined Mermaid Waters Vet Surgery at the beginning of 2019. Felicity has a Certificate II & IV in Veterinary Nursing & a Certificate IV in Frontline Management. Felicity has more than 12 years experience as a Veterinary Nurse where she has worked in both mixed and small animal practices.
Chloe started her journey working at Mermaid Vet back in 2014. She now works with us part time after having 2 beautiful kids. You will hear her melodious voice here every Saturday and on other days when she fills in for a missing nurse. At home she has two Australian bulldogs named Barry and Nadi.

Annie completed her certificate IV in veterinary nursing in 2008. She has worked in a variety of positions all over the world, including general practice, shelters, teaching establishments, emergency and hospital management. Annie has a strong interest in animal welfare and the conservation of our native wildlife
Kaela is working with us at Mermaid Vet while she studies a Bachelor in Veterinary Medicine at the University of Queensland. She has always had a passion for helping animals and loves meeting your beautiful pets. At home Kaela has a dog named Ollie and a cat named Jax
Abbey grew up on the Gold Coast. She has many years experience grooming dogs and can style your dog’s coat in any way you can imagine!
Lena swapped her hairdressing scissors for dog grooming clippers in 2019 when she began working at Mermaid Vet. She is a big dog lover and can’t wait to pamper your pooch! At home she has two American Staffies named Pablo and Bonnie
